Admit it, you love reading your daily horoscope to see if the day will be filled with wonder or if you need to hide in the covers and be cautious. We all love to read about our signs and see how close they are to our real personality.
This fascination comes from a deeply rooted impulse that humans have to find quick, easy ways to make our days go better, keep us safe, and increase our happiness.
Some daily horoscopes are spot on, while others aren’t even close. Why is that?
Very simply, such quick messages are like headlines, and are often written to capture excitement with a highly simplified hint about what’s possible for us. But it cannot factor in the many additional details that make each of us unique. It’s like saying that all tall people are good at basketball, or all people with long fingers have a talent for the piano.
Intuitive-based modalities, from Astrology to Numerology, from the I Ching to Chakra balancing, and many other powerful traditions, were developed over centuries of careful observation and cataloging of human behavior and the cycles of both inner and outer life, humanity and nature.
While we may get tickled reading about whether this month we will come into money, love, travel, special relationships, or whether to embrace or be wary with new people we meet, remaining grounded is essential.
A daily horoscope only hints at how the planets, moon, and sun align, and why that matters. There are many factors to consider including birth date, time, and location of birth, to build an accurate picture of what energies we start life with, and how we can learn to use them most effectively as life unfolds across the years and through planetary cycles.
Just like other modalities, a personal horoscope chart, read with expert guidance, can give us a map to help navigate a world where so much seems in flux and ever-changing.
Astrology gives us a better picture of the crossroads we are likely to encounter and the decisions we will face as we respond (consciously or on auto-pilot) to the energetic rhythms of our solar system’s influence.
Every culture has its own astrological symbols, cultural references, and technical distinctions:
Chinese signs are best known for their 12-year cycle of animals like tiger, dog, and boar; along with 5 elements like wood, water and earth.
One Celtic system uses 13 different tree symbols, such as, oak, ivy, and hawthorne that correspond with the annual lunar cycles.
Jyotish and Vedic systems focus on the planets that were originally visible to the naked eye, ending with Saturn, and factors in the precession of the equinoxes in planetary position calculations.
The “Western” system places great emphasis on sun, moon and rising signs, such as Aries, Leo and Sagittarius; and adds the outer planets discovered since telescope’s invention, such as Neptune, Uranus and Pluto, which changed the planetary rulerships.
There is even an asteroid, discovered in 1977, orbiting between Saturn and Uranus, named Chiron, that’s gained a real following for its connection with healing!
Astrology calculates a birth chart, and all its traditions have additional techniques to calculate personal updates from ‘’’planetary transits” to fine tune the energies impacting a person for a season or a new year.
Many will glance at a daily (generic) horoscope, or perhaps read the aspects in a published ephemeris (it functions much like the Farmer’s Almanac) to get the day’s planetary weather before going out the door, to help prepare themselves for what they’ll meet.
Most of us are familiar with the oft-dreaded “Mercury Retrograde” cycle that is famous for bringing us challenges in communication, travel, health and money all on very personal levels, a few times a year. Yet, despite this bad rap, it’s a great time to get research done, and untangle problems you may have swept under the rug.
This is where Astrology and Energy Medicine can team up, as both have much to teach us.
What matters in life is your beliefs.
Regardless of what we think, read or study, so much of what we do is based on our beliefs. Beliefs can help or hinder us, and so many of them are deeply buried far below our conscious awareness.
Energy medicine, and any intuitive modality like Astrology, when used in a grounded sensible way, can guide us to become more fully aware of what our beliefs are, and which of them serve and support us well, and which do not. This helps us learn to value Self-Care, and to seek to gain healing that serves us in living our best, most balanced lives.
If you need more help with this goal, I invite you to contact me about Energy Medicine.
Here’s to your best, most healing, beliefs.
