There are many ways to get a better picture of yourself, but how much do you learn or are you simply confirming things you already knew about yourself? Many love to look at numerology, astrology signs, personality tests, or what your favorite color says about yourself.
Some of these can say a lot about you, but how do you find the true essence of yourself?
Essentially when you look at yourself in the mirror you tend to see the judgments you’ve put upon yourself or taken on while growing up. But how do you truly break some of these when what you see in the mirror reflecting is not who you want to be?
First, you need to realize that the pressure and standards we put upon ourselves are all based on lies. Yes, I said it, lies.
Our whole lives we’ve been told what other people think about us or believe who we are, but these are based on their perceptions, not our own. Which are lies because they aren’t our truths.
We didn’t wake up one morning and decide that we are not good enough, pretty enough, smart enough……these all came from beliefs we’ve been spoon feed since we were very little. Either by our parents, friends, or peers.
But what we don’t realize is that these are not true facts, they are only perceptions that we soon take on as our own. This often takes place underneath our conscious thoughts, and can misalign our energy, putting us at odds with ourselves.
In order to break the web of lies, we need to look at ourselves through different eyes. This can start with releasing all the old beliefs we’ve grown up hearing, or have instilled in our minds because of one phrase or word we’ve heard by those close to us, or even from perfect strangers. We need to realize that these are simply words, because that’s exactly what judgment is. A word that soon becomes a feeling that then becomes a belief. Here are a few ways to do this.
On one side of a piece of paper write down all the words you have heard through your life that hurt or made you feel inferior.
On the other side write down a list of all the words that you want to instill in yourself. What are the words that would make you feel whole and complete?
Now circle the words you wrote down that you want to instill in yourself and cross off the words you want to release and get rid of.
Take the words you circled and put them on a separate list. Tape this to your mirror and concentrate on these words. Say the words out loud while seeing yourself in the mirror. Say the word or words again, and again every day.
Soon you will find that when you go through this exercise you will start replacing all the past judgment and words from your past and will begin to only concentrate on the words you want to believe in. This is when you start to find your true self and who you’ve always wanted to be.
Granted this will take time to perfect and release all the old judgments you’ve heard in your past, but it is doable, the key is YOU. YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE. This brings you into the realm of energy, where deep and lasting release and healing begins to take place.
