When we start as wee babies, we have no conceived ideas about ourselves or anyone else. We are simply exploring a whole new world. However, as we start school, we begin to experience judgment not only by our peers but many times from family members.
As we continue through life we tend to hold onto these judgments or the words that hurt or sting our pride and soon our self-confidence begins to wane. We start to believe in these words and start to see a different person when we look into the mirror. Instead of seeing that innocent and loving child, we began to see someone new start to form. Someone we don’t like or know starts to judge us even more harshly than the words we’ve heard throughout the years.
But how do you break a cycle that has been going on for years, and years? How do you get that innocent child back who believed in herself or himself? That child who was ready to take on the world with their dreams and aspirations.
Where did this child go?
We desperately want to believe this child still exists and relish in the dreams we once had, but words and life can pull us down. But how do we overcome these judgments and learn to love ourselves again and have confidence in who we are?
Get Real With Yourself – You need to get back to you and be honest with who you truly are, not based on the words you heard. Pull a list together of all the things you love to do and are good at.
Start Learning – Read self-help books or about things you’ve always wanted to know. By educating yourself in new things you expand your mind and begin to feel more confident in yourself.
Pay Attention to How You Show Up – Do you constantly apologize for no reason or blow through everyone else. Realize that if others in the room showed up in this state how would you react. Start to believe in your confidence.
Forget About the Mistakes You’ve Made in Your Life – We all make them. That’s what makes us human and allows us to learn. Let these go as you can’t change them; you can only learn from them and move on.
Never Speak Against Yourself – It’s important to celebrate the rewards in your life regardless of how small. Take balanced responsibility for your actions, of course. Yet give yourself credit for the great things you are accomplishing both big and small.
Confidence comes from within, it’s not bought, nor is it given. It’s something learned as you continue to become the very best you.
NO judgment just love, NO harsh words, just acknowledgment for your wins.
Practice these things each day and learn to let go of the past because that’s where it belongs, in the past. It’s time to live fully in the present with new confidence and love for yourself, thereby creating a better future.
Here’s to your health and wellbeing.
