What Makes You Truly Happy from The Inside Out?

When someone asks you, “Are you happy?” What’s your answer? The majority of people will go on about their day, how the dog got out, or the kids were fighting, or how they hate their job….etc. We may say we feel worn out, or low in energy.

But when was the last time you asked this question did you get a positive answer? Such as:

“Life is great.”

“I can’t complain my life is very good.”

“I love my job, my family, and am blessed for all the things I have.”

Most likely, you didn’t get many of the above answers, did you? Why do you think this is? Statistics show that even though most of us have way more than our parents or ancestors we are more unhappy than ever before. In fact, scientists have proven this fact with the pony effect. For those who have never heard of this here’s the background on this test.

Several scientists conducted a test whereby they filled a room full of toys and brought in an 8-year-old child and simply said, “Have fun.” Under observation, they found the child played with a few toys, but then stopped altogether and asked if they could go home now.

In a separate room, they filled the room with manure and brought in an 8-year-old child and stated the same sentiment, “Have fun.” This child dug and dug enthusiastically for several minutes with a full smile on their face. After several minutes the scientist asked why they were so happy receiving a gleeful response of, “I was looking for the pony. I knew with all that manure there had to be a pony in there somewhere.”

This test simply proved that when we have more stuff in our lives, we become complacent and unhappy because we have nothing to look forward to. This is partly why many people are so unhappy in today’s world. 

We strive to have a home, yet when we do all we do is complain about all the things that need fixing.

We strive to find that perfect job only to find that we don’t like our boss or the tasks set before us to complete.

We strive to make money only to complain about the taxes we have to pay.

With all the opportunities out there to start your own business, buy a home, start a family, get more money why do the majority of us not take advantage of these opportunities? Some don’t have the access to these resources, but the majority is based on FEAR. Yes, FEAR can stop us from being happy or seeing the opportunities put in front of us. This is why most of us are unhappy as well.

Fearful of losing everything.

Fearful of failing at work.

Fearful of not being able to pay the bills.

All of these are based on fear. So, when someone asks you, “What makes you happy?” Maybe a better answer would be, “Everything makes me happy as life gives me so many opportunities. I simply have to choose which ones I want to pursue.” Can you see the difference in attitude? Which is what life is all about. We can complain all day or simply change our attitude towards life. 

Is it this simple to attain happiness? Absolutely, but it also takes belief and faith on your part. The belief that it is possible and the faith that it will happen.

The true pursuit of happiness comes from you and your mindset. But how do you become happy from the inside out – and feel the difference in your energy – free from a mindset of doom and gloom? Start by changing your mindset and here are a few ways to do this:

  • Practice doing mantras every morning ensuring you use the present tense and are very specific. For instance: “I am completely and fully happy every day because of all the blessings I have in my life.”

  • Repeat to yourself in the mirror, “I am truly happy with my life and myself.” Keep saying it over and over until you truly believe it.

  • Write a list of the top 3 things you are grateful for each morning.

  • Invest in some Energy Medicine sessions to clear and release those old patterns and beliefs.

By doing these simple things you begin to truly believe in your happiness from the inside out, and energetically you will find the universe will reward you with even more opportunities. Even though it’s a very simple concept, it can be very hard to put in place with all the junk you may be carrying with you from your childhood. By working to release your past you allow your future to become brighter.
