How do I stay positive even though things aren’t going well?

This is a loaded question. Why? Because we will always have something in life challenging us in ways we’ve never been challenged before. However, with a more positive mindset, you can get past these challenges in a productive way.

For example, sometimes, life can feel like a thorn in your side, but the key is how do you handle that thorn.

  • Do you curse at the sky, bemoaning why does this always happen to me?

    OR

  • Do you pull the thorn out, wash it off, and focus on taking the path of least resistance by going with the flow and seeing everything as an opportunity to grow and learn.

Do you see the difference in mindset in these two choices? One is victim mode the other is rolling with the punches while taking care of yourself. Now the important question is, “Which one are do you choose?”

If you are the victim, you will find anything and anyone else to blame which can stop you from moving forward. This is better known as FEAR. This is the main cause of the victim mindset. You are more fearful of what might happen so you’ve decided it’s just better to do nothing and complain all the time. It is also scary to make a change in your situation when you habitually do the same thing over and over again. That will head you toward being  perpetually unhappy, staying in the same old pattern and never moving forward in life.

The other mindset is one of results and growth. You don’t allow things to stop you. You know that things happen, but you have ways of getting past them no matter how big the issue may be. You are able to go with the flow and make any necessary adjustments for a better outcome. You can then be the one who is happier and healthier, and you getting more out of life than the perpetual victim ever does.

Anytime you are given a challenge you have two ways of handling it, victim or take control. Now this doesn’t mean that we are never in victim mode, because sometimes it’s good to take a step back, cry a bit, and then work out how you plan to move forward from this challenge.

The key is moving forward. But how? It’s a very easy answer, your mindset. When you have a negative, fearful mindset, nothing goes right. But when you have a positive, optimistic mindset, the world is your oyster.

Work to change the negative chatter into positive by:

  • Writing it down to release it all.

  • Bless it as it flies away in the wind knowing it’s gone.

  • Replace it with the opposite, something positive.

  • If having a hard time, get some Energy Medicine support to facilitate your ability to change your mindset.

It will take some practice, but once you decide to be the one who does, i.e. an action taker— instead of the victim— things will begin to change for the better.

Here’s to a life of doing.
