When life throws us challenges, we tend to get caught up in the moment which makes it harder to find ways to cope. Instead of coming up with solutions we simply spiral down the rabbit hole of despair, depression, anxiety, and stress. We all know these are not good for our mental well-being as well as our overall health. Yet, we allow these challenges to take over both our minds and body. So, how do you stop the spiral from happening and get past the challenge before it gets out of control?
Many times, the simple act of breathing can help release much of the tension and anxiety brought on. But instead of breathing, we find ourselves holding our breath, clenching our fists, and feeling our bodies tighten up. Now, we all know what we need to do in many of these high anxiety situations, but we allow the moment to boil over us and take us down that hole of anxiety. However, you can overcome this anxiety, take control of the situation, and release it all. How?
Breathe – You hear this all the time, but there’s a reason for this. Because it works. When we stop and take three deep breaths, we allow both our body and mind to stop long enough to relax and let go.
Meditation – As with breathing this goes hand in hand. When you work to still your mind, which is what meditation is all about, you release both the thoughts and feelings the anxiety brings on.
Write it Down – When you write out how you feel you get it out of your heart and mind and onto the paper in front of you. This also allows you to release it all.
I get that these seem to all come up a lot, but they work. Each of these not only allows you to stop the thought process but also stops your body from becoming tight and rigged which can cause many other ailments.
Headaches
Nausea
Lack of appetite
Fatigue
Depression
When you practice Breathing, Meditating, and Writing it Down you allow the endorphins to flow more freely through your body. You allow your body to relax and your mind to be free of the negative thoughts that come with any challenge that life brings you. When you instill these into your daily life you take control of that challenge and meet it with a positive reaction of well-being.
