So many of us are facing one— or several— of these circumstances:
Just when you thought life would return to somewhat normal rhythms, COVID cases have started to increase across the globe.
Kids are returning to school soon and now you are worried about whether they will be safe from getting sick, especially since there is no vaccine for kids 12 and under.
You’ve read about climate change and all the flooding in Europe, India, and in many of the states within the US and simply wondering when it will hit your area.
You’ve been asked to return to the office when you thought you would be able to work from home permanently and you are now at an impasse on what to do.
Mom and dad are starting to have a major health issue and you may need to look at moving them into a home or your home, where do you even begin.
You are feeling overwhelmed, anxious and like the world is collapsing in on you energetically, mentally, and emotionally.
Stressed yet?
Believe it or not, stress is the number one killer outweighing any epidemic out there. Why? When our bodies become stressed, our immune systems take a hit, we get less sleep, don’t eat well, and simply start to get run down making it much more difficult for our systems to fight anything off.
Science has proven that during recessions, war, or extreme weather conditions more people contract cancer, disease, heart conditions, high blood pressure, arthritis, and more.
Even though our bodies have an immune system that can fight off many things, when it gets run down it becomes more and more difficult for that same system to work efficiently. It’s like a wall of defense against wind, rain, and war it takes a beating. But after time it’s starting to wear down, especially if some of the bricks have not been repaired. When we lack sleep, don’t eat well, and allow stress to take over our lives, that same wall of defense starts to get leaks allowing things to get through which can then weaken the fortress within. This wall is your immune system, and that fortress is your body.
That’s why it’s even more important than ever to do what you can to keep that wall repaired and strong. But the only way you can do that is by caring for yourself. How, when there’s so much stress in your life right now? By changing your routine and putting some of these in place:
More Exercise – People who have more movement in their lives tend to do much better with stress. Even a simple walk around the block is better than not moving at all.
Meditation – It has been proven that when you start and end your day with meditation you allow your mind to become at ease helping you to dissipate the stress in the first place.
Getting Plenty of Sleep – Whether this is 8 hours, 7, or 6 it’s important to get sleep. Didn’t get much sleep at night, try taking a small catnap during the day. It will help your body rejuvenate and repair.
Energy medicine - It can repair that protective wall around you as well as strengthen your immune system, emotional state, overall balance, and get control over your life, health, and wellbeing.
Take Time for Yourself – Even if this means taking 30 minutes to journal and get everything from your head on paper, take a long bath, listen to your favorite music while you dance around, it’s time for you and only you. This will help you to become much more centered and happier.
Smile More Often – This may sound like such a simple thing to do, but a smile can help to lighten your mood. When you do smile feel it from your head to your toes. Truly experience that smile. Can’t smile, think of the best experience in your life and relive it with that smile.
No matter who you are or your path in life, we all have to take care of our wall of defense to protect ourselves from those outside threats. When you take the time to practice some or all of the above, you build a stronger and less impenetrable wall that can withstand any storm life throws your way.
As with anything in life, it’s not the event that happens it’s what we do when it does that count. By taking care of yourself you strengthen your resolve to weather life’s storms and challenges for healthier tomorrows.
Here’s to your health.
