I’m sure you’ve heard this over and over; how negative thoughts can affect both your mental and physical health.
But if you’ve heard it so many times, why is it that you don’t practice it? Why do we allow negative emotions and thoughts to dictate our lives when we know they don’t help us in any way whatsoever?
Maybe this will help to dispel negative thoughts.
Imagine if a doctor gives you a choice to have health or cancer. What would you choose?
I imagine most would say health.
What if I told you that’s how negativity and positivity work, would you believe me? It’s true.
Negativity is the cancer of the brain and heart, which in turn causes many health ailments.
Positivity is like choosing health. It helps our brains and hearts soar allowing us to thrive.
Knowing this, why would you allow negative thoughts to overcome you or even entertain them? Believe it or not, it’s human nature. Even though it takes fewer muscles to smile than frown many would rather use those muscles to frown. We tend to relish in the negative especially if it’s all about someone else. It makes us feel better about ourselves, or we start a pity party competition to see who’s got it worse.
I get that there are times in life that allow that negativity to creep in. People often say this drains their energy, yet resign themselves to it, thinking they can’t do anything about it. But here are a few ways to STOP NEGATIVITY in its tracks.
Next time you have a negative thought try this:
Find a quiet place, close your eyes, and start concentrating on your breathing. Follow the rhythm as your chest fills in with air and then releases it. Do this until you feel still and calm.
Now repeat this mantra: “All negative thoughts are being released now never to return.” Say this over and over until you feel it and believe it.
Now imagine a bright light of positivity filling your body starting from the top of your head down to your toes. Follow this light as it flows into every crevice of your body and mind. Feel the warmth of the glow and the peace of the positive energy.
Now open your eyes and see how much better you feel.
I recommend you follow the above process each time negativity heads your way. You can do this!
