The Elephant is the guardian of the world.
When you think of the elephant you think of strength, wisdom, protection, positive energy, and connection. What many people don’t know is how fierce an elephant can be to protect their tribe and young from any predator. They have been known to travel thousands of miles to find water and/or to protect their tribe. They also have an amazing memory – never forgetting who helped them or hurt them.
We can learn so much from the traits of an elephant that we can implement into our lives including:
1. Family Bonds – They have a very focused power and determination well beyond their obvious physical capacities that has been proven to overcome any obstacle once roused. Their main priority is family including past and present generations.
2. Sacred Connection – They protect the young and weak with a loyal blood bond like no other animal.
3. Strength and Resilience – No matter what the challenge elephants will take it on to get to their desired result.
4. Overcoming obstacles – The Hindu God Ganesha is the God of overcoming obstacles. He is half man and with the head of an elephant, and is revered as an energetic ally that imbues b people with inner reserves stamina and access ot wisdom in the face of extraordinary challenges.
Think of what we can do in our own lives based on the above traits such as:
· A mindset of strength to overcome any obstacle or life challenge that comes your way.
· How to reconnect with family and realize how important this connection is.
· The challenge to protect the young and weak, emphasizing loyalty beyond blood ties.
In many cultures they see the elephant as an important spiritual entity in many ways. One of the most common is their spiritual growth due to their calm and gentle demeanor representing spiritual transformation and enlightenment. They also have an awareness and intelligence that is one of the highest in our world. They can teach us so much if we pay attention!
· In Denmark they see the elephant as a symbol of piety and gentleness.
· Sicilians link elephants to sorcery and magic.
· In African cultures they honor them for cooperation, mental keenness, endurance, and devotion.
· Even in the modern U.S., elephant totem artwork with their trunk curled upward is considered a symbol and signal that good fortune may be visited upon a person who treats good fortune with appreciation and respect.
· Having a “memory like an elephant’ is considered a wonderful blessing and sign that a person has been blessed with mental gifts to be used wisely in life.
When you dream of an elephant it could mean you need guidance or a desire to access a deeper knowledge. This could also represent a positive change of abundance, or that you are having a shift towards a more spiritual path.
Many may see the elephant as an agitator, or wantonly destructive, due to YouTube or other social media outlets. But what many people don’t understand is how, even though elephants are social creatures they can become very agitated when put in different types of situationsthat threaten them or their extended elephant families. We must also understand that these regal creatures are also expected to entertain us, and this is not always at will. We need to realize that the elephant is a very proud creature and may see things we do not as a threat. It’s up to us to observe how they communicate through sound, movement, and scent. We must learn to appreciate their extraordinary minds and senses, and to realize their vital role in maintaining our ecosystem.
We must honor these gentle giants and learn from their wisdom. When we work to protect them, as much as they protect their young and weak, then we can truly understand how every creature has its place in the ecosystem. When one creature becomes hunted and extinct it becomes a domino effect for our entire world ecosystem.
Here's to the gentle giant we call the elephant.
