All your intentions were good, but then something got out of whack along the way and your life simply spun out of control. Sound familiar? It happens to the best of us. But even though it seems that it happened suddenly, even overnight. it was a progression of things over time. You can’t change the past, but you can look forward and change what’s ahead of you. But how? Here are some key things you can put in place to get you back on track and move forward in a positive direction for your well-being.
Create a Routine. When you create a routine that works for you it can help you both get and stay on track. Ensure your routine is something you can do no matter where you are, (i.e., meditate, journal, walk, etc.)
Live in the present moment. You can only affect change on any level in present time. The past and future really don’t exist, so let them go and focus on what you can do moment to moment.
Get Support. Find that friend that listens and answers the phone when you need them. Or you may find a neighbor you can talk to. By having someone handy to talk to can help you work things out and give you the support you need. This can also be professional support from a therapist, Energy Medicine Practitioner, or other caregivers.
Take Care of Yourself. When you don’t eat or sleep due to stress or emotional issues it can compound any problem that may come your way. This is why it’s so important to take care of yourself. Take a nap, eat, go for a walk, take some time for you and replenish your energy reserves.
Practice Gratitude. We all have something to be grateful for, shelter, food, water, friends, family, another day. Even if something ‘bad’ has happened, it may turn out to be a blessing you can’t quite see yet, so be grateful for all types of experiences. When you practice being grateful for all the things you have in your life, you open yourself up for more good things.
When you put things in place to help you when things get messy, that helps you manage anything that comes your way. If you find yourself going off track again, go back to your list and start over until you get right back in the groove again.
I realize that there may be times where you will need more support than usual, but this is when you go to your list of friends, family, and/or professionals that can help you in a bigger way.
